SWOT
A SWOT analysis has been completed for the Help you Head initiative. A SWOT analysis is a simple framework that can be used to identify the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to a project situation or community.
STRENGTH: Our strength is in our ability to be mobile, our services can be accessed by those who need it most without the added pressure of finding the service, as we will come to you.
WEAKNESS: Our strength may also work as our weakness, as we are not at a fixed address it may be difficult to establish a regular clientele.
OPPORTUNITY: The fact that we intend to work alongside already existing programs means that we will have the opportunity to reach more people in need of our services .
THREATS: Similar programs have been put in place in the past with little success. For this reason a lot of our potential clients will be skeptical and less likely to access our services.
SMART
The goals that are been set by the program must meet the 'SMART' criteria; that is, the goals must be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-specific. Without a clear set of objectives the nurse may be side-tracked concerning what actually needs to be done.
Specific: Our program aims to help homeless people in the St Kilda region who may have mental health issues.
Measurable: It will be measured through the number of people accessing the service
Achievable: It's success will be measured through the number of returning clients. If patients are happy with their initial assessment done by the nurse then they are more likely comply with further treatment such as; appointments and referrals.
Relevance: As our data shows there is a clear need for this sort of program. There is a great deal of homeless people situated in the Port Philip region, many who have mental health issues.
Time-specific: A quarterly meeting will be held involving the main parties concerned the to see the progress of the program. This meeting will essentially determine how successful the current concepts are and alter them as need be.
